In my effort to keep posting to this blog, I figured I had better post something since it's been a few weeks since the last post.
However, there hasn't been too much to blog about. We have been pretty busy, but just everyday things going on that are too boring to chat on and on about. However, I seem to be doing well at that for the moment......
Tiffy, my charge at school, has been out of school since Wednesday with pneumonia. She gets pneumonia easily and spends at least a few days a year in the hospital with it. Hopefully, this will be the only stint for this school year. She will be back in school on Tuesday. Her absence though, has given me a lot of time to work on the yearbook (I love to work in that class). This class is in the library at the school. Two things have been "abuzz" in the library this week. The "Twilight" series, by Stephenie Meyer, and genealogy.
Actually, the Twilight series has been "abuzz" around several different circles I come in contact with. Not for everyone. Different. And not, in my opinion, as "amazing" as it's been made out to be. But I did read the first one in a few days and I'm anxiously waiting for the next. I haven't read since spring break and it was hard to make myself sit down and read.
On to the genealogy. Several people at school have suddenly become interested in researching their families for various reasons. One main one being the family tree guru that has joined our staff this year. She is really good at what she does and has helped our librarian find some really neat facts about her family. So I told my mom (after our trip to the State Fair!) that I would like to at least write down the family that we have actually known in our lifetimes. Not really interested in going back to Noah, just back to my great-grandmother and her family (she lived to be 103 and had like 7 children). This way I could at least show myself and OU's Austin Box on the same branches!! OK, so librarian traced herself back to George Washington's family, but I'd just like my OU fame! Anyway, my mom tells me that maybe I should take a look at the box she has in her closet. Someone once did a little research on our family. So we got down "the box". Inside were 4 "books" punched with 3-holes and bound with purple yarn. And FILLED with ALL kinds of history about our family! Going way back to the 1700's. I haven't had time to sit and read much of it, just scan over some of the stories included, but it was truely awesome! Nice to know where I came from.
It's midnight now and I'm going to bed. I'll leave you with our menu from the fair........
Footlong corndogs, Dan's indian tacos, Dip-n-Dots, and a fried Snickers! We had a great time. I love the fair. We are also having cooler weather and football started this week. Fall is amazing!
